Twin
sisters with Cystic Fibrosis receive life-saving
lung transplants
My
twin sister and I were born with cystic fibrosis, a
fatal genetic disease that affects the lungs and
pancreas. After a lifetime of hospitalizations and
progressive illness, we BOTH received life-saving
lung transplants.
Mine (Anabel) was on 6/14/00 and Isabel's was on
2/6/04. We are now 34 years old. We live a life of
renewed health and freedom. Each day is a gift
thanks to our donor families who said "yes" to organ
donation at a time of tragedy.
We
wrote a book about our experience called "The Power
of Two" which should be out in Fall 2007. We'd like
to share that for parents who face the challenges of
twins with health problems.
