I
am Brian the other half of a set of identical twins.
My twin brother is Dave and we were born in the
small town of Tillsonburg back in 1958, when
identical twin were rare. They even put it in the
paper back then. I can honestly say it has been an
amazing life experience being a identical twin.
We
are 48 yrs old, and are bound, and the connection we
share just gets stronger over time. It's mind
boggling at times. We both sense each other's pain,
and our daily habits are the same, and we use a lot
of the same products.
There a few differences in our personalities, but
the constant thing is people still until this day
get us mixed up. Our own family still does it. When
I am shopping I'll run into people all the time, and
they walk up, and say "hi Dave how you doing?"
Sometimes I will correct them, and tell them I am
Brian.
I
don't know if our parents did it to torture the rest
of the family. But they dressed us exactly the same
until we were 9 yrs old. I mean nobody could tell us
apart except our mom. When we were young we were
holy terrors of the neighborhood. What one didn't
think of the other one did.
I
remember when were 4 years old, our dad didn't have
any yard tools. So my partner in crime and I thought
it was a great idea to go around the neighborhood,
and gather up all the yard tools we could find for
our dad. Well when dad got home from work that
night, he was in for shock because there was a pile
yard tools sitting there waiting for him.
We
had managed too take almost all the yard tools on
the block, and pile them up in the backyard. When
our Dad saw this he broke out in such laughter, and
called our mom out to see what we had done. We
thought we were in big trouble, but dad and mom just
laughed, and thought it was so cute of us twins to
do that for our dad so he could fix up the yard.
Anyway, we had to return all the yard tools to the
neighbors, and everyone got a good laugh out of it.
Except the old grump that lived at the end of
street! He didn't like us twins much, because
we used to untie his dog all the time, and let it
run loose so we could play with it.
There are so many stories I could share about being
an identical twin, but there is not enough room
here. All I can say is that it has been and will
continue to be a wonderful experience - this special
bound that only we as twins share.
I
can tell you one thing we both hated growing up, was
our relatives making us stand side by side to see if
they could tell us apart. They could never get it
right, and when they did, we told them they were
wrong anyway just for fun.
