20-month old twins connect with their own language

I am a Mom of identical twin girls, Adrianna and Breanna, who are 20 months old and they have an older brother who is six. It was one of those days where the girls just weren't getting along ... what one had the other one wanted.

(That's Adrianna in the dress and Breanna in the pants)

So when the bad hair pulling began I placed the younger of the two (by 4 minutes), Breanna, on a time out for about a minute in their room. I closed the door so that she could not lash out and get her sister.

But unfortunately, instead of it being just one minute, it turned into 20 minutes. Their bedroom door has a lock on the inside of the room. I'm not sure why but it was there when we moved in.

Believe me it is changed now.

Anyway, I did not realize that my little goober could reach the door handle, so when she tried to get out she accidentally locked herself in the room. I did not realize this until I went to get her out and could not open the door.

Then of course the panic set in.

Breanna was crying, and Adrianna at this point just thought her sister was in trouble so she thought nothing of it.

But, as soon as I started to jiggle the handle and trying to calm her down, Adrianna perked up as if she sensed that something was wrong and ran to the bedroom door and started babbling to the door and hugging the door.

It's like she knew something was wrong. Once I realized that I could not get in, I called my neighbor's husband to help, and he brought the drill to drill the lock out. By this time Breanna was freaking out.

Once she started to freak out, Adrianna pressed herself to the door and also started to cry, but at the same time she was babbling to her sister. It brought tears to my eyes.

We did eventually got the lock out but before we did that we were able to squeeze my son through the window to calm Breanna down. Once the door opened, Adrianna ran to her sister and hugged her and brought her to me. Then they both sat on my lap hugging and crying together for about 15 minutes.

I will never know what they were thinking but it was amazing to see Adrianna to run to her sister knowing she was in trouble even at such a young age.
