I hope to see my brother on the other side

At the moment of this writing, my twin brother lay in a hospital bed, diagnosed with severe brain damage and will be taken off life support day after tomorrow.

I have this hole in me I can’t fill, but maybe I can share a story in his remembrance. I had a bad car accident back in February 1996 where my head hit the windshield. I was taken to the hospital, my head was stitched up and I sent home.

Later that evening I received a call from my twin brother who lives in another state. Before I had the opportunity to tell him about the accident, he told me he had the worst headache of his life.

I hope to see him on the other side; he will be the first to greet me.

For my twin brother Raymond Lees.

Below is Richard's follow up twin story...

I wrote to you last month about my twin Raymond Lees, who was being taken off life support. Well he died August 12th, 2007. I miss him so much; I feel a part of me is gone too. But I have to share this story with you, and also thank you ever so much for posting our picture on your website.

My twin (Raymond Lees) passed away August 12th, 2007. While he was being treated at a Veterans Administration (VA) hospital, they had a great deal of problems diagnosing what was wrong, but it eventually led to his passing with severe brain damage.

He was life flighted from the Fayetteville Arkansas VA hospital to the Little Rock VA hospital to have a brain biopsy done to help determine what was wrong.

Keep in mind we had lived apart from each other in different states for the past 25 years. When he was operated on for the brain biopsy, it was done on the right side of his head. That day I developed a large raised bump on the right side of my head, which is only beginning to disappear now.

We always experienced these things throughout our life. If one got hurt, the other felt the pain. I miss him so much, but I also feel he is with me today.

Other strange things happened AFTER his passing, but my twin always felt family was first. I had not seen my 33 year old son, (and my three grandchildren) from my first marriage, and lost contact with him over the past 5 years.

After my twin's death, my son called me on the phone. Note: I had gone to his last known city, searched, and searched with no luck whatsoever. My son said he was flying out east (Cleveland) this weekend ( I live near Pittsburgh), and he would try to make an effort to rent a car, and come see me.

Well he just left this afternoon, and nothing can convince me more that my twin led him to me. He may not be with me in body, but he sure is in spirit. Twins carry that spirit inside forever. His image is clear, but my tears will never cloud our life on earth together.
