I am the mother of 24-monthl old identical twin boys. I had been unable for many years to have children due to a very serious heart condition. When I married at 40 I was told my heart was strong enough that I could probably carry a child. Of course, at 40, I was told I had a 1% chance of getting pregnant.

My then husband and I tried unsuccessfully to get pregnant for over a year. We then began fertility treatments, with two failed IUI's. We were scheduled for invitro taking two months off to start a natural fertility treatment that I had researched and put together.

We became pregnant naturally the month before we were scheduled for invitro. At 6 weeks an ultrasound determined we were having identical twins - much to our shock! They were born via c-section on May 31, 2004, at just over 6 lbs each, 3 weeks and 1 day prior to their due date. They are very healthy little boys. They are mirror image twins as one is left handed and the other right handed!
