A guardian
angel with a twin premonition
Last year my fiancé Maurice and I were on vacation
in New York for New Year's Eve. We had a blast only
to find ourselves trapped in the airport a few days
later, when we were on our way home to San
Francisco. During our fun adventure of trying to
find a flight out we met a woman who decided to
start a conversation with us.
We talked about all sorts of things, including our
occupations. She told us that she was a massage
therapist with psychic abilities. I thought, "yeah
right."
She began to look at us and started to seem like she
was examining us. She asked to rub my finance under
his arm and she told him some things about his
childhood and how he still has issues around a death
that happened when he was younger. I thought she was
just having luck.
She then kept on telling us things about his health
that we had just found out. I thought again, lucky
guess. She then asked if she could rub my shoulders,
I said "why not."
She began to rub my shoulders and got this weird
look on her face and said, "Do twins run in your
family?"
I laughed and said no, and that we were not planning
on having any more children. She smiled and said
"Okay if you say so."
I thought she was crazy. She gave us her business
card and by the end of the day we parted ways on
different flights. When we reached home we put her
out of our minds.
I then proceeded weeks later to feel really tired
and moody. I made an appointment with Kaiser to see
what was wrong. The nurse decided to give me a
pregnancy test. It was positive. I was in shock
since I was in the process of getting an IUD
replacement. I didn't know what to do or say.
I went back two weeks later for an ultrasound to
make sure I was pregnant and that it wasn't a
mistake. The nurse began the ultrasound and got a
funny look on her face, she said "Honey, not only
are you pregnant but it's twins."
I was at a complete loss for words until I called
Maurice. He asked what happened and all I could say
was, "Remember that lady in the airport?"
He said yes and I said "We should have asked her the
lottery numbers, we're having twins."
Six weeks early, on August 24, 2006 at 10:08 and
10:10 am Malcolm J. Xavier and Justice J. Malik were
born.

I tried to contact her to say thank you and to let
her know that she was right. But when I called her
place of business they said no one by her name
worked for them. Maurice and I think that maybe she
was a guardian angel letting us know that our family
wasn't complete yet. Whom ever she was or is, she
helped make our twin pregnancy a very unique one.
